There have been many times when I felt as though the world was collapsing down on me and that everyone was against me. I remember when this happened to me as a youth back in high school (or should I say one of the times). My junior year I ran for a student government position. I had been on the SGA the year before and so my classmates rallied against me to elect one of my best friends instead of me. I felt so bad. It seemed as if everyone, even my best friends were against me. It was a hard time in my life and I learned to trust in God even more. Both youth and adults working in youth ministry have times in life when they want to crawl under a rock and hide because of what is taking place around them. It is important to remember that God is watching over His children and in complete control.

In Psalm 3 David writes about a time when he felt as if the world was against him, except on a much greater scale. David described how he felt due to his own son hunting him down to kill him. When your very own son is against you, it has to make you feel pretty bad. Yet in the midst of the trouble, David trusts that God will take care of him and that God will deliver him from such circumstances. David writes that deliverance and blessing comes from the Lord so we must trust Him in our times of difficulty.

Pray that God will help your youth not to feel abandoned when their peers and friends are turning away from them, but rather know that God is watching over them and is always there to listen and deliver them.
