Some REAL HEROES!

Take a short visit with me as I pay tribute to some real heroes.crown

Mrs. Prescott - She was my Sunday School teacher when I was in the fifth grade. She taught me the Bible. She witnessed to me constantly. She loved me sincerely.

Betty Taylor - She was my "Training Union" leader during my teenage years. She pushed me into leadership. She was patient with me. Her smiling face was a wonderful reminder of what Christ can do in a person's life.

Brother Hamm - He was my missions teacher, my Royal Ambassador leader when I was in elementary school. He also took our little youth group to summer camp. He was the same age as my grandfather, ancient! But he taught me faithfulness like no one else. I was often the only boy in our "Baker James Cauthen" Royal Ambassador chapter. It would have been so easy for him to say, "You know, it's just not worth the time and effort to keep meeting with just one boy." But he never said that. He taught me the greatest lesson in faithfulness that I ever had.

Mr. Royal - He was the music leader in our little church. (We simply called him our "singer.") When he found out I was interested in music, he started asking me to lead music. I worked with him at the dry goods store on Saturday. I saw him at church on Sunday and I saw him outside the church after school. In all those places he was a real and authentic Christian.

My Mom and Dad - They often hosted youth at our house after church on Sunday nights. They would take us to associational youth meetings or to get hamburgers after church on Sunday nights. They witnessed to me and led me to the Lord. They showed me what it means to live daily for the Lord.

I don't really remember many of the things they said or the rules they taught me. But I sure remember the entire force of their lives.

They were not "perfect Christians" ...

But they were just ordinary people who loved God and loved me. And I am eternally grateful for their influence on my life.

Did this bring anybody to your mind? Do you know someone who has had an impact on your life?

Write their names in the box below and write a sentence or two about how they touched your life.
