A TRIBUTE TO VOLUNTEER LEADERS
(Sample Lesson Module)

Roy Rogersand Dale Evans   When I was a kid my biggest hero was Roy Rogers. He could sing, shoot straight, ride his horse Trigger, and he always stood for what was right and good. He and Dale Evans were just wonderful!

I met him in person one time. Well, it wasn't just me alone with Roy. There were several thousand other people in the arena when he rode by on Trigger right in front of me! I could almost reach out and touch him. He was my hero and I dreaded the thought that my own kids might grow up and not know about Roy Rogers.

There are a lot of new heroes in our country today. A couple of years ago firemen and policemen were often just ignored or even scorned in some communities. But this year they are our greatest heroes. We have learned to see our heroes in different ways. We have learned to appreciate the sacrifices they make for us all.

LET'S TAKE A QUIZ

pencilTake a moment to write answers to these questions:

1. Name one of the wealthiest people in the world
2. Name someone who has won the Nobel Peace Prize.
3. Name one of the last five Academy Award winners for Best Actor and Actress
